What Consumers Say

The majority of consumers love this karaoke machine.  There is a reason why it’s been one of the most popular karaoke machines on the market.  Consumers love the price, quality for the price, sound for the price of this unit.  So many people were saying kids loved this karaoke machine because of the lights and how easy it was to use and setup.  There are so many options on how to use this machine from bluetooth, direct line connection to smartphone, CD+G that consumers found very little to complain about.

As with any popular product not everyone is satisfied.  Some of the main consumers issues with the product seemed to be quality issues and not related to performance.  One of the main issues was the quality of the power cord.  It seemed to break quite easily on some peoples machines.  Another major issue we discovered was that a few people complained of the CD player breaking quite easily.  The last major issue we came across was a few consumers complained about the microphone shorting out and not working after a bit of time.

The majority of the reviews and comments were positive but please be aware of issues others have had.

Overall Impression

I haven’t had the opportunity to personally use the Singing Machine SML 385 this karaoke machine but I did plenty of research on this unit.  Keep in mind this is a budget karaoke machine so you aren’t getting the best quality or best sounding unit.  With that said what I can say with confidence is that you do get your money’s worth with this machine and probably a lot more also.  This karaoke machine has plenty of features and ways to use so your options are wide open.  Not many people use CD+G anymore because of Youtube but if you do beware of some quality issues with the cd player.

With the way this karaoke machine is designed and the price point I would highly suggest this machine for kids 12 and under.  Adults and teens can use this machine also but from what I have read kids enjoy this karaoke system more.  This would also be a great starter unit for families also wanting to dip their toes into the karaoke experience.

With a good price point and a variety of features I can say that I would recommend the Singing Machine SML 385 for kids and families looking for a starter unit.  With some of the quality complaints I would buy from a seller with a good return policy in case you encounter any quality issues.  There is a reason why this unit has been a best seller for several years now.
